Methodology

Every number on this site has to earn its place: it must be relevant to understanding the AI buildout as a market, it must come with a traceable source, and it must carry a confidence tag and a vintage. We never invent numbers. When a figure is an estimate, it says so on the label.

We combine AI-assisted research with human judgment. The goal is analysis that survives contact with people who actually know the domain — always falsifiable and fully sourced.

Not all sources are equal, and we rank them openly. Official sources — company filings, government data, grid operators' own numbers — outrank press-reported figures from reputable outlets, which outrank proxy estimates: modeled numbers, projections, and market-research forecasts. The hierarchy is visible on every row of every table via the confidence tag.

A projection from a single market-research firm is treated as a scale indicator, never as a measurement. When the dataset's only evidence for a claim is thin, the “where the data runs out” section on the page says so.

• Official — primary or official source: filings, government data, grid operators.
• Press-reported — reputable press reporting rather than a primary source.
• Proxy / estimate — modeled, estimated, or projected; methodology dependent.

Every dataset carries a vintage stamp — the as-of date of its numbers. Figures get revised as new data arrives; the vintage tells you how fresh what you're reading is. Data updates land as dated changelog entries, and rows touched recently carry “New” or “Updated” badges for 14 days.

The living “current read” boxes on our pages are dated too, so you can watch the interpretation evolve in the changelog as the evidence changes.

We're open to being wrong. If you spot an error — a stale figure, a better source, a misread mechanism — use the feedback form. Every submission is read, and corrections are recorded in the changelog like any other update.

Understanding, not investment advice. The site maps who wins and who pays in the AI buildout; it doesn't tell you where to put money.
